“Today, if you go to the lake during a full moon, you can see her long white hair reflected from the stars above”.
Yellagonga Regional Parl, Lake Joondalup, 2024 ongoing. Work in progress in collaboration with Michaela Watts.
"if you go to the lake during a full moon, you can see her long white hair reflected from the stars above" is a reference to a traditional Aboriginal story about a spirit woman called the "Charnock Woman" where her long white hair is said to be visible in the reflection of Lake Joondalup, particularly during a full moon; essentially, "Joondalup" means "place of the long white hair" in the Noongar language.
